FGCU Sustainability Practices

I believe that FGCU really does do a great job in modeling sustainability practices. I learned so much between the tour that was given by one of FGCU’s student campus naturalists and the Focus the Campus event.

FGCU seems to honestly, put a great deal of effort to becoming a more sustainable university. They continue to instill changes for the betterment of the environment and university. They achieve this from both little improvements such as the establishing awnings over windows in order to block the warmth of the sunlight from raising the temperature of the building therefore wasting less energy on the cooling down of the building. Much larger ways that FGCU contributes to sustainability would have to be the solar panel field in which they are building, which is projected to contribute to approximately twenty percent of the power of buildings: Lutgert, Academic Building Seven, and Holmes Hall.

I love Florida Gulf Coast University!
